Sarasota Memorial Health Care System consists of Sarasota Memorial Hospital and many outpatient care centers and specialized services, such as the Institute for Advanced Medicine. Sarasota Memorial Hospital is designated as a magnet facility, which requires 100% of nurse managers to have their BSN (MSN preferred) by January 1, 2013. (75% by January 1, 2011)
Saint Joseph's College of Maine and SMHCS have been Education Partners since 2005. The main focus in this partnership is Nursing. Due to the excellence of the SJC online MSN degree program, SMHCS has agreed to reimburse employees 100% for this degree, even though SJC is an out of state institution. Students may also take advantage of the SJC RN-MSN fast track program which substitutes three Master's courses for the final three Bachelor's courses in the BSN, thus reducing the Master's program by three courses.

In addition to the nursing degrees, the programs offered include online undergraduate and graduate degrees in health administration, including a master of health administration degree. The Division also offers online degrees in business administration, theology, education and general studies.
